The Story of Grease Lightning
I'm Spencer, the founder of Grease Lightning, producing and delivering custom print greaseproof paper to the UK catering industry.
I began my career in print at the age of 16, all the way back in 1989, so you could say I’ve got a fair bit of experience!
I started my own printing company in Essex in 1997. As a humble business owner, I won’t name-drop those I’ve provided print services to. However, let’s just say, if you were to order from me, you’d be joining an illustrious list of clients such as Dior, Harrods, The V&A Museum, Elton John. Oh, and not to forget a little work for Her Majesty the Queen.
Print was a very different industry 35 years ago, when my passion for the art was ignited. Automation and AI were words only reserved for sci-fi films, and the world of printing was manual machines, marvellously designed and manned only by us specialists with the knowledge and training to do so.
It is this knowledge and training I have acquired through my long experience which raises the standard of my printed products. My clients receive only the best when ordering from me, and I pride myself in my ability to meet their needs.
In recent years, I have focused on perfecting the process for producing personalised greaseproof food wrapping sheets to the high standard clients and their food deserve.
Printing on greaseproof paper is no easy feat, quite the opposite. I have found that the market is riddled with those printing designs in washed-out colours to reduce drying times and slash their own costs at the expense of the client's business brand.
Yes, our method uses more ink and skill to achieve our signature vibrancy, but we pledge that here at Grease Lightning all your designs and logos are run at full PMS colour, to look as they were intended.
All of our inks are food safe certified and we ensure that every order has fully dried before they leave our factory, giving you the peace of mind that your print won’t run when packaging your delicious food.
And if you need your vision delivered quickly, we also run an ‘Express My Order’ option where we endeavour to bring your design to fruition in just 2-3 days.
